FROM THE WEEK OF AUGUST 15, 1940—With four combines clacking through the fields, 15 men harvested 2,500 acres of wheat in 16 days at the Earl Steen farm four miles south of Ulysses. Earl and his son, Lawrence, are in the foreground of the picture.
