Howard Edward Rexroat, 71, of Lakin, Kansas went to his heavenly home on April 6, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was born the youngest of four brothers on September 16, 1949, to Everett and Dove (Rider) Rexroat in Lakin, Kansas.

Howard grew up in Grant County on the family farm. He learned from an early age a strong work ethic from his parents and three older brothers with all the chores a farm holds. He attended a country school until fifth grade, then went to Ulysses schools. After graduating high school he continued farming and that became his career.

In 1976 he met his future wife, Colleen R. Holmes. After dating a year, they were united in marriage on June 3, 1977. In this union they had three children: Aaron, Caleb, and Ashley.

Howard’s life is full of hard-working days – working the farm and making a living. However, he found the time to help raise three kids and go to church regularly. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior while attending the First Baptist Church. He served the church as treasurer and trustee for many years. He was also treasurer for the South Side Ditch Association for much of his adult life, as well as serving on the Kearny County Fair board.

Howard enjoyed gardening, working on vehicles, drag racing, and collecting classic cars.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, his oldest brother, George, and his oldest son, Aaron.

He is survived by his wife Colleen, son Caleb, daughter Ashley and her husband, Ryan Connolly, and his grandchildren: Kayson, Sean, and Leah.  Other Survivors include two brothers Ramon Rexroat and Keith Rexroat.

He will truly be missed.
