Carlos F. Garza, age 67, of Ulysses, Kansas, died on Monday, August 9, 2021, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas.  He was born August 23, 1953, in Rogers, Texas, the son of Jose L. and Lydia F. (Flores) Garza.

Carlos grew up in Texas until the age of 16 years when his family moved to Sublette, Kansas.  He married Dora Perez on December 22, 1973, in Ulysses, Kansas.  For 28 years, Carlos owned and operated Garza Construction setting up irrigation sprinklers.  He was an Evangelist and part of Mercy, Grace and Truth Ministries.  Carlos loved to fish, go to the mountains in Colorado, spending time with his grandchildren, and drinking coffee.

Carlos is survived by his wife Dora of their home; children, Peggy Rakes of Yukon, Oklahoma, Carlos Garza, Jr. of Johnson, Kansas, Delma Garza of Amarillo, Texas, and Naomi Smith of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; brothers, Victor Garza and wife Lydia of Edmond, Oklahoma, Richard Garza of Monett, Missouri, and Elias Garza of Liberal, Kansas; sisters, Shirley Hernandez of Great Bend, Kansas, and Carolyn Garza of Liberal, Kansas; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 

Carlos is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Joe Garza. 

Funeral service will be Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Shelton Memorial Christian Church with Pastor Mike Garza officiating. Visitation will be Friday, August 13, 2021, from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial contributions may be given to the Mercy, Grace and Truth Ministries in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave., Ulysses, Kansas 67880.
