Merlyn Brown, former community news and sports editor for the Ulysses News, announced he would be launching a weekly tabloid newspaper, "Holcomb This Week".

It is believed air cadets, who were involved in a fatal crash, flew over this area for a short time. Some of those killed were found in the Pierceville, Kans., area and one other was found near Guymon, Okla.

Oral Nagal, alias Charles Hudson, alias Charles Eichor, was arrested by Sheriff Walter Ford for possession of a stolen automobile and $764 mechanical tools..

Alleged Bootlegger is convicted: J.L. Casto who was picked up north of town by Sheriff Walker a week ago, was tried in the justice court last Friday and found guilty of having liquor in his possession. Blackie George who was also caught at the same time has not had his trial yet but was bound over to the district court term in April.

When the Grant County Bank received the order from the Bank Commissioner's to have a bank moratorium and that only five per cent of the old deposits could be withdrawn, the local merchants accepted it with the cooperative spirit they always show when meeting a crisis of this kind.

The Board of Commissioners took action at their meeting leading toward the building of a jail in Ulysses. Grant County has probably been the only county for several years that has not had such an institution.
