Ulysses High School will present it’s first ever spring play on April 29th and 30th. The production will be “You Can’t Take It With You.” The play will be performed on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. and Monday at 7:00 p.m. in Kepley Auditorium. Tickets are $7.00. Lalo Garcia and Catherine Madison have the lead roles.

Andrea Meierhoff has signed to run Cross Country and track at Pittsburg State University. Andrea is the daughter of Gary and Maureen Meierhoff of Ulysses.

At the latest USD 214 Board of Education meeting, several resignations were received. Dick Haefele will resign as Director of Facilities, Stacey Gee resigned as Head Girl’s Basketball coach and Joyce Rexroat resigned from Red Rock. The board also approved a Foreign Language club trip to Denver.

(Week of April 22, 1982)

Five members of the Ulysses FFA Chapter competed in a livestock judging contest. Team members were Brett Maris, Mike Paris, Todd Randles, Mark Akers and Troy Klein. The team placed seventh out of fourteen teams.

(Week of April 20, 1972)

Local police are searching for vandals who broke the windows of four automobiles Friday night on North Hickok. Some time after 10:30 p.m., side windows in the autos belonging to Willard Higgs, Spud Wells and Sam Elliott were broken. A windshield in the Wells car was also broken.

(Week of April 19, 1962)

An empty jail over the Weekend was an unusual experience for Grant County and Ulysses City officers. A city prisoner was released on Friday and the jail was still empty on Monday evening, according to undersheriff Jay Randles.

Clean-up Week has had to be postponed in Ulysses because of muddy alleys. The city crews and trucks will be out next Week to remove all items placed in the alley for removal.

(Week of April 23, 1942)

The Sew and So Club members and their families met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Hawes on Sunday for a covered dish lunch to honor the birthdays of Mrs. Anita Hammer and Mrs. Gayle Hawes. After lunch, the afternoon was spent playing cards.

(Week of April 21, 1932)

In grade school notes, the eighth grade is working hard on review for final examinations which are coming up. Seventh graders are being reviewed in geography, and the sixth grade has been making maps of Kansas. A baseball game will be held Friday with Satanta at the Ulysses Grade school.

Charles Hoffman received a new Dodge touring car this Week from Kepley Brothers. W. D. Hickman is driving the Dodge formerly owned by Mr. Hoffman.
