The Ulysses Tiger’s Golf team took second place behind Lakin at the Sublette Invitational held at Buffalo Dunes in Garden City. Team members are Travis Fort, Chase Ketchum, Shawn Pyle, Brent Millikan, Josh Ybarra and Adam Dees.

Jennifer Moyer and Trisha Rundell have been selected to participate in the Kansas Lions State Band. Moyer plays the flute and Rundell plays the clarinet. Both girls are juniors at Ulysses High School.

George Melcher will complete a 29 year career in the Ulysses school district and a total of 35 years of teaching when he retires this spring. The Melchers plan to keep their home here, but intend to travel extensively with their camper trailer and van.

Shelton Memorial Christian Church will celebrate the burning of their mortgage on Sunday afternoon at 2:00. The mortgage was paid off three years ahead of schedule. All are invited to this joyous celebration.

Shari Kepley, junior at Colorado Women’s College at Denver was elected vice president of the student body in an election held on April 25th.

Mrs. Cleve Stoskopf and Mrs. Geo. McGillivray spent Friday and Saturday in Enid, Oklahoma with their daughters, Sally Stoskopf and Mary Margaret McGillivray, who are students at Phillips University. They were guests at a Mother’s Day luncheon and tea.

Ulysses won first place in the WAVL track meet in Garden City. Oliver, Hallenbeck, Hampton, Hickok and Smith will next go to the regional meet in Scott City and if they qualify, will go to the State meet in Wichita.

The Snow White Lunch room has moved to their new location next door to the Ulysses Barber Shop. With new paint and decor, it is one of the cleanest looking lunch rooms in the city. Several booths have been installed for the convenience of their customers.

(Week of May 6, 1922)

A quiet home wedding was held at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Chas. Hampton on April 24th when their daughter, Miss Ruby, was united in marriage with Arthur Howard, son of the Rev. Howard who performed the ceremony. We wish the couple a long and happy life.
