BWM Hospital Auxiliary Holds May Meeting

Posted

BWMH Auxiliary met in the Cooper-Clark Room at the Library on May 11, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. Eleven members were in attendance: Sue-Ellen Borthwick, Joyce Brom, Delores Currier, Pat Feezor, Jeri Howard, Taunya Lindahl, Kim McGaughey, Jeryl Smith, Carol Spady, Doloris Ungles, and Bonnie Walters.

The meeting was called to order by Delores Currier.  The Auxiliary Prayer and Task were recited. April minutes were read and approved. The treasurer’s report was presented and approved.

Correspondence:

1. Thank you notes from the district and state speakers at District Meeting.

2. Thank you from the organization receiving the Knitted Knockers we donated.

3. Evaluation results from our District Meeting.

4. Memorial donations honoring Bev Haefele.

Joyce Brom thanked the Pink Ladies for assisting with Registration and lobby traffic. Anyone needing coverage for the rest of May and June can let her know. Arranging trades is always a good solution. Registration will be closed on Monday, May 30th, so no pink lady services will be needed. The gift shop will be closed that day as well.

Delores announced that some spring merchandise has been put out, and that sales are typically slow as school ends and summer begins. Kim McGaughey agreed that sales are slow, but hopefully with the sidewalk sale, we’ll be able to clear space for new merchandise.

The Scrub Depot sale was successful, with sales nearly $4,000 – and our commission over $300. The employees really appreciate the opportunity to shop in-house.

The next blood drive is Thursday, August 4. Discussion regarding Pizza. Moved, seconded, and passed to forego pizza in the future. With Pat’s retiring as chairperson of the Blood Drive, anyone wanting to chair or co-chair with another person is urged to let Deloris know. Pat will attempt to be on hand to train at the August 4 drive.

A sign-up sheet was passed around for workers for the Sidewalk Sale on Friday, May 20. More workers are needed. The sign-up sheet is at the gift shop, so anyone who missed the meeting and would like to help may still sign up. We’re better together. This is a fun event – and profitable. Most items will be 50% off – or even more. We will be putting out left-over crafting supplies as well.

Jeryl Smith announced the recipients of the scholarships: The following people will be awarded scholarships in the amount of $1,000: Mia Rock, Tyann Weis, Valeria Carrasco-Corral, Alexandra Yasmin Heredia, Grace Murray, Xochitl Rojas, Brittany Raines, C. J. Raines, Trinity Newport, and Luz Gomez. Congratulations to these young people pursuing careers in the medical field.

Last minute instructions were given for the Appreciation Tea we will be hosting tomorrow in the Cafeteria from 2:00 to 4:00. Carol Spady suggested we have all employees enter a drawing. She donated one of her pillows as a gift. Another drawing gift suggestion: one of the fancy purses sold in the gift shop. All members are urged to attend the Tea and let the hospital employees know how much we appreciate their dedication.

Hospital Wish List: Elevated chairs for patient comfort while sitting in the waiting areas in the clinic, physical therapy, and hospital lobby. Discussion over the chair options available. Joyce will visit with Kristy and tell her the option we selected with the hopes of being able to select a darker fabric rather than the lighter fabric pictured. Moved, seconded, and passed to purchase three chairs.

The meeting adjourned at 11:00 a.m. Our next meeting is Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at 9:30 a.m.
