Chamber Coffee

Chamber coffee this week will be hosted by the Masonic Lodge. It begins at 10:00 AM at 909 N. Joyce Dr. The youth who participated in this year’s Shrine Bowl will be recognized. Everyone is welcome to attend and catch up on community events, enjoy refreshments and mingle with other local business people and residents. 

American Red Cross Blood Drive

The Ulysses Community blood drive will be held on Thursday, August 4th from noon until 6:00 p.m. in the Commercial Building of the fairgrounds. For an appointment, go to redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-733-2767. 

Free Concert

The churches of Ulysses will present a free live concert on Saturday, August 6th at 7:00 p.m. The concert will feature Steven Malcolm and will take place at Oasis, 712 E. Hampton Ave.

Soul Patrol Swimming Party

The new season of Soul Patrol at the United Methodist Church is starting soon and they will be kicking off registration with a free swim party on Friday, August 5 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the rec pool. Soul Patrol is for kindergarten through fifth grade students. Bring your family and enjoy a night of swimming.

Backpack Giveaway

The Ulysses Church of the Nazarene at 402 N. College St. will be holding “The Great Backpack Giveaway” on Saturday, August 6th at 11:30 AM. This is for children in kindergarten through 12th grade. You must register to reserve a backpack, the child must be present and plan to spend an hour with the Nazarene Church people.

Farmer’s Market

The Farmer’s Market is being held each Saturday morning at the Historic Adobe Museum in Ulysses. Bring your home grown, hand made and hand crafted items to sell beginning at 8:00 AM. There is no charge. Call the museum at 620-356-3009 for more information.

Pickin’ on the Porch

If you enjoy making music or just listening to it, the Historic Adobe Museum will be hosting “Pickin’ on the Porch” on Thursday evenings at 8:00 PM. The singers and players will be performing from the porch of the Hotel Edwards. For more information, call the museum at 620-356-3009.

USD 214 Board of Education

The School Board’s next meeting will be Monday, August 8, 2022, 7:00 PM at Joyce School.

Commissioners

The next Grant County Commissioners meeting will be Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at the courthouse at 9:00 AM. The meeting is open to the public.

City Council

The Ulysses City Council will meet on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, 5:00 PM at City Hall. Open to the public.

Rec Board Meeting

The next meeting of the Grant County Recreation Board will be on Saturday, August 20th at 8:00 AM at the Terry Stuart building. The board will also be holding their budget hearing and meeting at that time.

Medical Fund

A medical fund has been established at Grant County Bank for Susana Barron. She has been diagnosed with pancreatic/lung cancer. Donations can be brought in or mailed to 201 S. Main.
