Grant County Clerk and Election Supervisor Anita Lane announced at the June 3 Grant County Commission meeting there will not be an August Primary Election in Grant County.
Lane was asked by commissioner Darrin Figgins why there was a bill for a notice in the newspaper regarding the USD 214 election.
“I have to put a publication in by June 10 stating the possibility of a primary and talk about the general election,” Lane said.
Lane said there will not be an August 5 primary, and the general election will take place November 4. The filing deadline was June 2.
Three Ulysses city council seats held by Mark Diaz, Caleb Woods and Ken Warner are up for grabs. Those three have filed to run in November and will be challenged by Silas A. Rosales, Lucy A. Guerra, Aubree J. Bohl, Shawn Rider, and Bravane Phelps.
The top three vote-getters will be elected.
The Unified School District 214 election will also be on the November ballot, with three seats up for election in the regular rotation and one seat up for grabs to fill a position vacated by Kasey Kreuger.
Stacey Gee – who was appointed to fill the seat vacated by Ron Smith – will be running unopposed for Position 4, Mike Meyer is running unopposed for Position 5, and Daron Cowan is running unopposed for Position 6.
Josh Eddie and Cara Britton have filed to fill Kreuger’s seat, which will be up for grabs again in 2028.
