Garold ‘Gary’ Thomas Wells, age 71, of Ulysses, Kansas died Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Stanton County Hospital in Johnson, Kansas. He was born December 5, 1950, in Ulysses, Kansas, the son of A. H. ‘Spud’ and Effie (Lott) Wells.

Ulysses, Kansas, located in Grant County, was Gary’s hometown. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Robert P. Wilson. Gary married Bonnie Hennigh. Gary worked in the oil and gas industry most of his life, working at    S & S Meter Shop and Scout Energy. He was also a member of Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79.

Gary is survived by his wife, Bonnie Wells of Ulysses; daughter, Brenda K. Wells of Oak Creek, Wisconsin; son, Brian Wells of Oak Creek, Wisconsin; step-daughter, Shari L. Ward of Ulysses; grandchildren, Devin J. Wells of Oak Creek, Wisconsin, Jacob & Emily Wells of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Victoria and husband Mason McCormick of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; step-grandchildren, Nathan & Jordin Ward of Ulysses; great-grandchildren, Lincoln & Lucas McCormick of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; sisters, Shirley Weis of Hickok, Kansas, Kassandra Bentley of Durango, Colorado; brother, Marlon and wife Jeri Ann Wells of Tulsa, Oklahoma, along with many nieces and nephews.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald Wells.

Memorial service will be Friday, January 21, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Borthwick officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery with Military Rites by Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79.  Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or any charity of your choice in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W.
