Gerald Ray Wood, 78, died October 3, 2021 in Covington, Tennessee. He was born January 16, 1943 at Leopold Hospital in Garden City, Kansas to Gerald (Jerry) and Irene (Carter) Wood.

Gerald grew up in Grant County on the family farm south of Hickok. He attended Red Rock School through eighth grade and continued his education at Grant County Rural High School, where this “country” boy met the “town” girl he would make his wife, and from which he would graduate in 1961.

Gerald and Carolyn Onedia Skaggs were married November 22, 1960 in Clayton, New Mexico. To this union three children were born: Kellie, Kim and Kyle.

Gerald and Carolyn lived in several states over their 60 years of marriage, including Kansas, Oklahoma, Wyoming and Texas, before settling in Arizona after Gerald’s retirement from Phillips Petroleum. Due to health issues, Gerald had recently moved to Collierville, Tennessee to be near his daughter.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of Tucson, Arizona; two daughters, Kellie Euliss and husband Kyle of Ulysses, Kansas and Kimberly Perry and husband David of Collierville, Tennessee; one sister, Judith Bailey and husband Darrell of Shawnee, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren - Kevin Euliss and wife Betsey of Allen, Texas; Kody Euliss of Ulysses, Kansas; Briana LaForte and husband Scott of Greenbrier, Arkansas; Brandon Nachtman of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Reyna Lee and husband Jiahm of Greenbrier, Arkansas; Paige Mori and husband Kohta of Portland, Oregon; Kasey Wood of Farwell, Texas; and Kelcey Wood of Tucson, Arizona; ten great granchildren - Eli, Brooklynn, Jude, Kyndall and Myla LaForte; Luna and Canon Lee; Cheyanne and Danica Euliss; and Wyatt Wood.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Kyle Douglas Wood.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. At his request, no services will be held. His family will say their goodbyes next summer by scattering his ashes in the Wyoming Big Horn Mountains that he loved. Memorials are suggested to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or the donor’s choice.

Revelation 21:4 - “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
