An infant who had been reported as "unresponsive" has been released from the hospital in Garden City. Authorities arrested the child's mother, Johanna Martinez, 21,  and are now looking for the child's father, Carlos Rascon, 20.

Deputies from Finney County Sheriff's Department and EMS in Garden City responded at 2:57 p.m., November 22, to a residence at 6005 E. Skyline Drive in Garden City.

The call, which was originally a medical call, was in reference to an "infant who was choking, unresponsive, and not breathing."

When deputies arrived, according to a press release from Finney County Sheriff's Department, "they found the infant on the floor barely breathing."

After arriving at the residence, deputies discovered something they suspected might have caused the infant to have difficulty breathing.

"Deputies immediately noticed drugs and drug paraphernalia in the home, the smell of burnt marijuana, and suspected the infant could be suffering from a drug overdose," a press release from Finney County Sheriff's Department stated.

EMS transported the infant to St. Catherine's Hospital in Garden City, and deputies secured the home, while awaiting approval of a search warrant.

A judge granted the request for a  search warrant for the residence, and subsequently, the search resulted in the location and seizure of the following: .

• Approximately 5,500 counterfeit pills which tested presumptively positive for Fentanyl

• Approximately 59.5 grams of suspected Marijuana packaged for distribution

• THC products

• Several items of drug paraphernalia

Officials then arrested Martinez. She was taken to the Finney County Jail in Garden City where she is being held. According to the press release, officials plan to charge her with:

• Aggravated Child Endangerment, 2 counts

• Distribute Fentanyl > 1000 dosage units

• Distribute Marijuana 3.5-100 grams

• Possession of THC

• Possession of drug paraphernalia

Officials of the Finney County Sheriff's Department currently are still looking for Rascon, in relation to this case.

*Finney County Sheriff's Department would like to remind everyone that the person(s) involved has not yet been convicted of a crime and are presumed innocent. The presumption of innocence shall continue until such time that the person(s) accused may be found guilty by a court of law.*
