Karen Lou (Kuykendall) Forrer, 80, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at her residence in Lebanon, OH, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Karen was born in Fort Lewis, Washington, but her heart belonged in Kansas. Karen spent her childhood years in Manhattan, with a brief few years as a teenager in Topeka. After graduating from Topeka High, she went on to attend Kansas State University and joined the sorority Gamma Phi Beta. Karen met Sam through mutual friends and they were married in 1963. After a few years of marriage, she and Sam settled in Ulysses, Kansas, raised their 2 children and remained active residents until 2000 when Sam retired from the Grant County Bank.

Karen loved her family, reading, classical music, gardening and needlework. She was an active member of the United Methodist Women’s Circle that provided meals and prayer to those in need. 

She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Howard Samuel Forrer; two children and their spouses, LeAnne (Forrer) Conway and Dave, and Christian Forrer and Kristy; her sister, Judy Burget; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 3, 2022 from 10:30 AM-11:00 AM with a service beginning at 11:00 AM, all at the Otterbein Lebanon Chapel. In memory of Karen, donations may be sent to the Warren County Humane Association.
