Manuel C. Flores, age 94, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Sunday, September 19, 2021, at Stanton County Hospital in Johnson, Kansas. He was born on June 25, 1927, in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico, the son of Jose and Amada (Castro) Flores.
Manuel grew up in Mexico and came to the United States when he was 18 years old. He farmed, was a crane operator, and also worked at Ansel Manufacturing in Ulysses. Manuel lived in Hutchinson for a time before moving back to Ulysses.
Manuel is survived by his daughter-in-law, Estella Flores of Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico; daughter, Elvira Esser and husband James of Ulysses; daughter, Isabel Gonzalez and husband Cesar of Ulysses; son, Ruben Flores and wife Stella of Ulysses; son, David Flores of Ulysses; daughter, Sarah Guijarro and husband Marcelo of Ulysses; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Manuel is preceded in death by his parents; son, Jesus Flores; two sisters, and two brothers.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses, Kansas. The service will also be streamed live on Garnand Funeral Home Facebook page. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Hutchinson, Kansas. Arrangements are in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W.
