Olivia Galaviz, 61, died on Sunday, October 9th, 2022, in Park City, Kansas. Olivia was born January 25th, 1961, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico to the late Erasmo and Manuela (Vasquez) Morales. Her family came to the states in 1967 and resided in Ulysses, Kansas. She was the oldest sister of 9 children.

Olivia married Erasmo Galaviz in 1977 in Dodge City, Kansas. Together, they had three children: one daughter, Monica Lisa and husband Felix Degollado, Jr. of Ulysses, and two sons, Mauricio Lee and wife Amy of Andover, Kansas and Erasmo Enrique and fiancé Kenia Garcia of St. Peters, Missouri. Their six grandchildren are Levi Degollado and wife Sarah Grace, Aaron Degollado, Mason Galaviz, Adalyn Galaviz, Atalie Degollado, and Hadley Galaviz, and one great-grandchild to be.

Olivia and Erasmo raised their family in Ulysses. She could always be found cooking and caring for not only her family, but for anyone she welcomed into her home.  She was an active member of the Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church where she served as a Lector, PSR teacher, and was a Cursillista.  Olivia loved to read her Bible, praying for and with others, daily. As a devoted Catholic, she dedicated her life to her faith and family. She worked at Head Start and Sullivan Elementary School before retiring to become a full-time grandma. She loved to travel. Olivia will be remembered as a kind, happy, and patient person. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother to be, sister-in law, tia, and friend.

She is survived by her two sisters: Leticia Chavez and husband, Marcos of Ulysses and Evelia Castilleja and husband, Arnold of Wichita, Kansas; five brothers: Carlos Morales of Ulysses, Jesus Morales and wife, Edita of Loxahatchee, Florida, Jose Ramon of Ulysses, Evelio Morales and Dawn of Firestone, Colorado, and Esteban Morales of Ulysses. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Olivia is preceded in death by her parents, Erasmo and Manuela Morales and her brother, Erasmo Morales, Jr.

Rosary will be Friday, October 14th, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. and Funeral Mass will be Saturday, October 15th, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses with Reverend Charles Seiwert officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday, October 13th, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday, October 14th, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
