Patricia "Pat" Kistler, 81

Patricia “Pat” Kistler, age 81, of Ulysses, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2021, at  St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born April 18, 1940, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of George Russell and Georgia May (Miller) Shane. 

Pat attended grade school in Elkhart and Dodge City; graduating high school from Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School in Windthorst, Kansas. She continued her education at Emporia State University where she earned a Master’s degree in Educational Administration. Pat married Ken Kistler on June 30, 1989 in Ulysses, Kansas. Pat taught Art at Kepley Middle School for 22 years. She was very creative and had painted murals at Joyce School as well as Kepley Middle School. She also sponsored Fellowship of Christian Athletes for 10 years. Pat enjoyed bike riding, walking, running, gardening, fashion, drama, theatre and vocal performances. She loved her grandkids very much and attended their school activities local and far away. She enjoyed making ceramics and had a potter’s wheel and kiln. Pat spent numerous hours in her yard tending to her garden and flowers. She was active in Women’s Bible and Prayer groups, was a member of Rose Lane Church of God and Gideon’s International.  

Pat is survived by her husband Ken of their home; children, Danny Hawkins and wife Rita of Newton, Kansas, Dana Hawkins-Simons and husband John of Montclair, New Jersey, Marcy Stringham and husband Kyle of Ulysses, Kansas; step-children, Shelana Corrigan and husband Eddie of Monks Corner, South Carolina, Robin Fort of Ulysses, Kansas, Kyle Kistler and wife Camie of Dodge City, Kansas, Kenya Rudzik and husband Chance of Ulysses, Kansas, Thadd Kistler and wife Beth Ann of Auburn, Kentucky; half-brothers, Charles Haight and wife Linda, Joe Miner and wife Donna; half–sisters, Jackie Smith, Jeanne Miner Wundrow and husband Gary; 8 grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 9 step-great-grandchildren.  

Pat is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Mike Shane.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses, Kansas, with Pastor Gerry Dupuis officiating. Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 28, 2021 from 4:00 PM until 6:30 PM at Rose Lane Church of God in Ulysses.
