On January 28, Ray G. Walden took his final breath with his family and friends by his side.

He was born April 4,1945, in Liberal, Kans., to Gene C. and Bonnie (Unruh) Walden.

He was raised in Ulysses, where he met the love of his life, Royce Button. They had 59 years of wonderful marriage.

Ray was a union pipeline welder by trade and after 40 years he retired to spend time at home puttering around collecting cars, trucks, motors, and watching his grandkids grow up. His grandkids were so special to him, and he loved working on special projects with each of them.

Ray very seldom met a stranger. He made friends wherever he went, and he will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Velma Walden, and Bonnie and Lloyd Noyes; and a niece, Kelley Walden Monroe.

Ray is survived by his wife, Royce Button Walden; daughter Shawn (Kevin) Casper; son, Shannan (Suzanne) Walden; grandchildren: Josh Walden (Natalie Kimmick), Justin Walden, Bailey (Ilyas) Yilmaz, and Jaqueline (Hank) Moore; great grandchildren: Leah Yilmaz, Laramie Elizabeth, Cadence Moore, Braden Moore, and Gavin Moore; brothers: Jack (Cherilyn) Walden, Russell (Cindy) Noyes, and Roy Wayne Noyes; and his sister, Sharon (Shane) Clouse.

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many many MANY friends. He will be greatly missed by everyone that was fortunate enough to have known him.

A celebration of life will take place April 1. Time and location to be announced. We will be welcoming stories and laughs so please bring your memories to share.
