Marcus Jauregui, senior at Ulysses High School, was invited to participate in the National High School Wrestling Championships in Pittsburgh, Pa.

An estimated $50,000, 10 pounds of marijuana, was seized in a Grant County raid. Charges were filed against 14 area adults (10 men, four women), according to Grant County Sheriff Lonnie Lee. There were 50 counts ranging from class "A" misdemeanors to class "B" felonies.

The breaking of windows at the Ulysses High School and even lesser vandalism that has taken place in Ulysses over the past two weeks might carry with it more penalties than the vandals realize. 

Steve Watson, a wide receiver for the Denver Broncos, will be one of two top ranked professional football players to take part in the Spring Fling in Ulysses April 16-17.

Mr. Leo Eck, principal at Leoti High School, will become principal at Ulysses High School for the 1973-74 term, according to Superintendent of Schools Merrill Durr.

The largest mortgage registration tax ever received in the office of the Grant County Register of Deeds was received by Mrs. Netta Smyth last week. Involved were about 1,600 leases in 12 states securing an indebtedness of $97,500,000.00. Grant County received $41,736 tax on the huge gas mortgage.

Spring Valley School District 11 voted 24 to 1 to request admission to the Ulysses Grade School district 2. There were 12 pupils enrolled at Spring Valley that year.

Southwest Kansas royalty owners were told by attorneys they had no obligation either legal or moral to repay Pan American Petroleum Corporation for its alleged "overpayment" for gas it has sold to Cities Service.

Records at the county Billy Bob Teegerstrom, Larry Elliott, Kenneth Howard, Bill Lozar, Leon Hampton, Bill Herman, Joe Garrison, John Ladner, Dale Gish and Gerald Cheek. agent's office showed that since January 1, 1943, there had been 27 cars of cattle shipped out of the county to market.

Grant County Bank was to open "business as usual". Withdrawals on old accounts was to be restricted to five percent. Complete recovery of "bank troubles will be made possible soon".

Sometime Sunday thieves entered the Co-Operative Oil Companies station by lowering the upper window sash and as far as could be determined Monday had received a tire, a tube and a battery for their efforts.

Pat Sullivan was given his preliminary hearing on the charge of murder. He was his own attorney. He went to jail to await his trial in the district court. His bond was set at $10,000.
