Tourism Seeks Sponsors For Flowerpots

Posted

You may have noticed the placement of the terra cotta colored flowerpots along Main Street. This is a project of the Grant County Tourism Committee. We are working with Sherry Olson and the City of Ulysses to coordinate the project. We appreciate her wisdom and their help figuring out the best way to provide water to the pots.

The pots are designed to reduce water usage, they have a large water reservoir in the bottom of the pot. After the plants roots are established, the water will wick up to the plants from the reservoir to reduce the need for top watering.

The Tourism Council is seeking sponsors for the pots. The business, club, organization or individual that sponsors a pot at the one-time cost of $485, will have a metal plate hung from the front of the pot with the sponsor's name or possibly their logo. We feel that this would be a great way to show your support for the beautification of our community. There are 17 pots currently set and there are two more that may be set out later.

The Tourism Committee is also seeking sponsors for the potting soil and plants that will go into the pots. This would be an $85 investment and it will be for one year with the possibility of renewing it annually. We plan to have a stake in each pot with the sponsor’s name. All pot and plant sponsors will also be recognized in the Ulysses News.

Please contact the Grant County Chamber of Commerce if you would like to sponsor a planter pot or the plants. 620-356-4700
