Trotman Reports Busy Month For Treasurer's Office

Posted

Grant County Treasurer Terri Trotman told Grant County Commissioners at their March 7 meeting that February is always a busy month for the treasurer’s office with truck tags due, taxes collected and delinquent property tax notices being addressed.

Property taxes in Kansas are due December 20, and if half of that amount is not received by then, the total property tax is considered delinquent.

Trotman said warrants on personal property taxes would be sent out March 10. If property owners paid half their taxes in December, the second half is due May 10. In other department business, Trotman said she had sent the $303,000 in taxes due to the state.

Trotman reported $31,000 in Revitalization checks had been sent to local residents and businesses. The Neighborhood Revitalization Program is a five year state program intended to help people enhance or rehabili-tate properties, enabling owners to receive a rebate on their taxes for those building or property improvements, and the funds are available to those with properties within Ulysses City limits and/or the three-mile limit. Though more business owners take advantage of this program, Trotman said the program is available to other Grant County residents.
