Is It Hard For You?

that’s the question i am dying to ask my parents

to my mom, Is It Hard watching my room change from princesses and polka dots to makeup and clothes on the floor

Is It Hard to see that your once 2 year old that wanted a Dora birthday party is now just wanting some things she can use for her dorm room?

Is It Hard to see that same little girl that you would drop off at preschool about to walk across her graduation stage in May?

Is It Hard knowing that instead of you driving her to Garden City to switch houses on the week-ends, she is driving herself so she can better herself in volleyball

Is It Hard For You, Dad?

Is It Hard for you to see your daughter who once thought boys were icky and had cooties get a

boyfriend?

Is It Hard for you to know that when your little girl goes to a sporting event she is more excited to actually watch the game then get popcorn, lemonade, and dip’n’dots from the concessions?

Is It Hard to see her switch from the dress up costumes to a real Prom Dress?

Is It Hard knowing that instead of you driving her to Garden City to switch houses on the week-ends, she is driving herself so she can better herself in volleyball

To my older sister, Is It Hard For You?

Is It Hard For You to see the baby that you saw right when she was born grow up to be bigger than you?

Is It Hard For You to go from switching houses together every weekend to now not even living in the same city, let alone the same house?

Is It Hard For You to think that we were once dressing up as cowgirls and as clowns and nerds for Halloween, and now we are the ones that hand out the candy?

To my younger siblings, Is It Hard For You?

Is It Hard For You to see your big sister that you used to play cars and Barbies and drive around the block on a moped with or have concerts in the basement with grow up

Is It Hard For You to swallow the pill that since you’re growing old, she is also?

To myself, Is It Hard For You?

Is It Hard For You to know that in May you will be graduating and living on your own without the family who made you- you- just months after?

Is It Hard For You to realize that your life is about to change in so many different ways than one

Is It Hard For You to know that your biggest worry for tomorrow isn’t feeding your fish or cutting your Barbie’s hair or driving your monster truck?

But it is rather where you will be attending college, and if you will be playing volleyball next year

Is It Hard For You- you know, all this change?
