Anatomage Table Provides Virtual Format For Learning

Special to the Ulysses News

Ulysses High School students were able to have some hands-on learning with an Anatomage Table. But, what exactly is an Anatomage Table?

The Anatomage Table offers users the ability to explore human anatomy in a virtual format. The Anatomage Table is a technologically advanced anatomy visualization system. This operating-bed sized table provides highly accurate, 3D visualizations of human and animal anatomy.

Users are able to choose from four different photorealistic cadavers that were recreated from actual human cadavers by serially sectioning the bodies at 0.2 mm intervals and then imaging the sections.

The end-product is a wonderfully detailed human body recreation, the likes of which have never been seen before.

In addition to anatomy, the table has life-like physiological recreations that teach users how the individual body systems function, something that can't be recreated on a real cadaver. Users can view how the heart contracts to pump blood throughout the body. They can also view how muscles contract and relax during running.

It is both a virtual library of human and animal cadavers, as well as a clinical diagnostic tool by visualization of any Medical CT, CBCT or MRI scan. With the table, you can:

Virtually dissect full-scale images of actual human and animal cadavers

Remove layers to reveal bones, muscles, nerves, veins, and arteries

Make incisions with digital tools and examine the cut from any angle

Explore thousands of real medical cases

Annotate structures and save your views with a screenshot or make a video of your screen activity

Support your work with interactive quizzes and color coded self-study tools

Tap on a blood vessel to see annotated blood flow animations

Fly through internal anatomy to simulate endoscopic procedures
