As A Father: Kincaid Keeps Tight Schedule, Full Heart

As a father of three, Dalton Kincaid keeps a tight schedule and a full heart. Kincaid, 31, shares daughters: Mykaylah, 10,  Maci, 9, and Arya, 4, with his wife, Andrea.

When Kincaid isn't providing technical support via Pioneer Communications, he enjoys "fiddling with firearms" and raising chickens, ducks, and turkeys. As a 4-H parent, Kincaid has also aided his daughters in successful livestock shows and food judging. Watching his children improve is one of Kincaid's favorite parts of fatherhood.

"I love getting to be there for all the firsts my kids have and watching them learn and grow in all that they do," he said.

Kincaid spoke about his own learning experience in his role as a father.

"The biggest challenge has been learning to have patience and striving to build on that," said Kincaid. "Kids are smart. They just need a little extra time sometimes."

According to Kincaid, fathers deserve grace at times, too. "A dad is an important role in a kid's life. You have to be patient, kind, and, at the same time, firm," he explained.

Kincaid shared wisdom for other dads.

"Don't be afraid to make mistakes because even though you're a father, you're still human."

However, for Kincaid, the bad moments stay defeated by "the giant hugs I get on certain days when I come home from work".

For Father’s Day, Kincaid and his family plan to watch his oldest daughter, Mykaylah, in a traveling softball tournament–a plan of which Kincaid considers to be the perfect Father's Day gift.
