"Bad Bunny? Seriously?"

Life In The Headlights

Posted

I have to admit - I rarely, if ever, watch the Super Bowl. The sports I enjoy are the ones featuring players I know personally, not players who are over paid and many of whom skirt on the edge of the law if they are not breaking it whenever they can.

I have seen some half time shows, but lost interest in that some time ago. Why? Because more often than not these days the "show" is not something I would want my family to watch. That brings us to today - Bad Bunny. Seriously? Even the name - I mean really?

I do not, nor have I ever, considered rap to be music. I have very rarely listened to any that I found even the least bit entertaining. The Super Bowl is something families watch together. So shouldn't the entertainment be geared toward the audience? I'm not saying it has to be "church focused", etc. But it needs to at the very least be rated PG - not R for adult material or down right ridiculous.

Entertainment is getting more and more on the "rated R" realm. And I think it's time we cooled it down.

There are plenty of entertainers who can put on a show without showing nudity, vulgarity, obscenity, etc. And guess what? They have made millions putting on a "clean show". Since when do we have to have "rated R" to be entertained? What is that teaching our children and young people?

And once again, the hatred that has come out of all of this topic. Anyone who has said they don't care for "Bad Bunny" or don't want him to be the entertainment has been met with hateful rhetoric in return. When Turning Point USA came out saying they were offering an alternative entertainment to be watched during Super Bowl half time - the hateful comments followed.

What difference does it make if someone chooses to tune in to Turning Point at half time or change the channel to watch a Soap Opera or cartoon during that time? It is their right to choose. It should not be something that makes anyone angry or hateful. Just like those who choose to watch a "Bad Bunny" the rest of us can say "no thanks bunny".

And is it true he is going to do his show in Spanish? I have nothing against Spanish - I took Spanish classes in high school and college. I feel everyone should learn another language or two. But, this is America. English is the prominent language. Why put on a show so many people are not going to be able to understand? Not cool bunny.

To be clear - this is my opinion. Something each one of us is entitled to and many men and women have fought for us to have the right to. I'm not calling names of those who like that kind of entertainment. Not throwing any rocks or insults. Just saying - it's not my cup of tea. So if "Bad Bunny" is the choice this year I guess I'll miss another Super Bowl. I'd rather tune in to one of my grandkids' games anyway, or, I may just tune in to Turning Point.
