Whitney Paige Seger has arrived. She was born August 21st in Liberal and weighed eight pounds, six ounces and was 21-1/2 inches long. Whitney is welcomed by parents Charla and Earl Seger and sister Brittany and brother Ryan.

Ulysses ministers and members of their congregations were at work Saturday putting up signs at the city entrances, proclaiming the Gospel and welcoming people to attend church in Ulysses. The signs are on US 160, with one at the west city limits and one at the east.

A total of $25,160.23 was sold at the Grant County 4-H livestock show and sale. The highest priced beef was sold by Cindy Jones. The 1,110 pound Grand Champion market steer was purchased by Kansas Irrigation Engine.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Olson and two children were hosts Saturday to the annual fair Week reunion dinner of the immediate family of Dan C. Sullivan. Attending were Dan C. Sullivan, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Sullivan Jr. and four children and Mr. and Mrs. J. David Sullivan and six children.

The Grant County Sportsmen will hold their August meeting on Tuesday in the basement of the Hotel Ralsamore. Principal topic of the business session will be possible sites for a state lake in this county. All interested in sports and recreation are invited to attend the meeting.

The county’s first tire theft since the restriction went on tires, was reported this Week to Sheriff Walter Ford. One tire and three tubes were stolen from the Asa Ratliff one-way. It is believed the theft was committed Sunday night. The stolen tire had a patch.

Some time ago, Charlie Binney received the honor of being crowned “Cherry King” by his wholesale houses. He now deserves another crown for “Cantaloupe King.” Last Saturday, he sold 53 dozen cantaloupes. That is some sale.

This notice appeared in the Grant County Republican. “You do not have to go thirty miles now to a picture show. There is a good show running three evenings in each Week right in Ulysses. Come and see for yourself.”
