The 50th Annual Home Products Dinner is coming up. Committee members are Todd Kahle, Brad Wells, Charlie Field, Derek Pridey, Lynda Caffey, Lori Deyoe, Jessica Akers and Amy Morales.  Commemorative buttons are on sale for $7.00 at various businesses in Ulysses and at the door.

Sammy Gonzales, a graduate of Ulysses High School, has been selected to serve as a student ambassador for Dodge City Community College for the upcoming school year. Sammy plans to major in Petroleum Engineering at DCCC.

(Week of September 16, 1982)

Margaret Lambeth was recognized as the 1982 employee of the year at Western Prairie Care Home. Runners-up were Betty Allred and Edith Oxford. Employees were awarded for their years of service and residents and staff enjoyed punch and cake following the awards.

The Ulysses cross country varsity team finished fourth at Garden City. Leading the way for the Tigers was Jay McNitt who placed 11th. Rick Wooten finished 16th, followed by Tim Chilen, Mark Davis, Jim Welch and Steve Mader.

Glenn O’Dell and Stephen Webber were among the 440 men who were pledged by fraternities at Kansas State University during rush Week. O’Dell pledged Sigma Chi and Webber pledged Sigma Phi Epsilon at the university in the record breaking rush Week activities.

The Grant County Chamber of Commerce elected five directors at their organizational meeting last Thursday night. Those elected were Ernest Mann, Ray Kreie, Marion Stoskopf, Donald Cantrell and F. M. McClelland.

The 1942 football season for the Ulysses Tigers opens against Sublette on Friday, September 25th, here at home. Returning lettermen are Doug Lewis, Don Hickok, Joe Byers, Dale Williams, Leo Ream, Jack Smith and Lawrence Steen.

(Week of September 15, 1932)

Election of class officers took place at the high school on September 9th. President of the freshman class will be Nancy Terrill. Elmer Davis will lead the sophomores and Jim Terrill will serve as President of the junior class. Senior class president is Dan Sullivan.

(Week of September 16, 1922)

A. W. Henley is moving his stock of hardware from the Pettijohn building on Main street to their new building one-half block east. J. R. Lyle is just completing a nice four-room house in the north part of town which will be ready for occupancy next Week.
