City Council Announces City Administrator Contract 'In The Works'

Posted

At the conclusion of the Ulysses City Council Meeting September 13, Mayor Tim McCauley made an announcement. McCauley said a contract is "in the works" to hire a new City Administrator.

The position was left opened following the death of former Administrator Alan Olson in November of 2022.

Employment of a city administrator is subject to contract and council approval, leaving the position vacant until further notice.

In other new business, Daniel Orosco requested escorts for the Lee Orosco Memorial Ride and Poker Run, scheduled for Saturday, September 23. After figuring up the proper timeline, the council agreed to aid in escorting motorcycle operators safely through town.

City Clerk Sarah Britton updated the council on a new development from Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS), which would make Roth accounts available to all City of Ulysses employees as of January 1, 2024. A motion was approved to grant KPERS 457 as an option next year.

Britton also required a motion to change the contact’s name on the Cereal Malt Beverage License at Bentwood Golf Course. After a brief discussion with City Attorney Lynn Koehn, a motion was carried and approved to change the contact’s name to Randy McCauley.

The next City Council meeting will be at 5 p.m., Wednesday, October 11, at City Hall.
