The City of Ulysses received $30,000 recently from Blue Cross Blue Shield towards the Impact Ulysses Community Garden project.

On February 23, 2022, the Council gave their approval to create a Community Garden at Barb Dye Park.

At that meeting, Troy Unruh introduced the idea of a community garden at Barb Dye Park through Pathways to a Healthy Community. Impact Ulysses is partnering with the K-State Research and Extension with Monica Walker, who has previous experience in community gardens.

Unruh said, “Barb Dye Park is a blank slate, which is a neat opportunity, and I hope the community will value this project.”

Warner expressed his approval of the community garden, saying the ones that have been successful are because individuals are excited to be a part of it, and he is glad there is an overseeing organization above it. Diaz agreed with Warner, saying he believes there are many people in the community who want to be involved with this project.
