Pray for Rain

Shelton Memorial Christian Church invites and encourages the whole community to come together at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 9, in Memorial Park (across from the hospital) on Main Street to PRAY FOR RAIN or Snow? All are welcome and all prayers are needed to lift up our pleas before God. And.... IF by chance it does rain (or snow), we will still meet to thank God! Everyone is encouraged to bring umbrellas (or blankets) and pray! Please help spread the word! 

Fish Fry

The Knights of Columbus Ulysses Council #5781 will host their Lenten Fish Fry beginning at 4:30 until gone, Friday, March 10, in the South Room of the Civic Center in Ulysses. Drive thru, carry out or indoor dining will be available. The menu consists of fried catfish, fries, hush puppies, coleslaw, desserts, and water. A free will donation is suggested. All funds go towards these causes: Special Olympics, Aid to Families in Need, Scholarship and the food pantry.

School Board

The USD214 Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m., Monday, March 13, at Joyce School. The public is invited to attend.

Concert

Southwest Community Concert Series will present "Back Tracks", a mixed five-piece a capella group, at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 14, at Garden City Hope Auditorium. The senior bus will leave the senior center at 4:30 p.m., March 14. Anyone wishing to ride, please call or sign up at the Grant County Senior Center, (620) 356-2216 or Delores Currier at (620) 356-2565 for more information.

School Board

The USD214 Board of Education will meet at 5:30 Wednesday, March 22, at the Ulysses High School Commons area for a meeting on the proposed bond issue. The public is invited to attend.

Give Up A Blanket

GIVE UP A BLANKET (and more) FOR LENT! Grace Lutheran Church will once again be collecting blankets during Lent. We will also be collecting medical equipment (such as crutches, canes, walkers, nebulizers, etc). The collections will go to the Orphan Grain Train. Please leave your blankets and/or medical equipment in the tubs outside the front doors at 205 E Patterson Avenue.

Scholarships

The deadline is March 31, for those wanting to apply for scholarships through the AG Future Scholarship Program. The program is eligible to graduating high school seniors and/or continuing college students pursuing further education (degree or program) in an agricultural field. There will be ten (10) $1,000 scholarships awarded.

Quilt Retreat

A quilt retreat sponsored by Stitches in Time Quilt Guild of Ulysses from March 30 through April 1 at the Grant County Civic Center. Cost is $60 for three days of fun. There will be vendors from Elkhart, Leoti and Springfield, Colo. Two dinner meals and one luncheon meal are included with entry fee. Relax with Reflexology and massage, play games and prizes. Medical Fund

A medical fund has been set up at Golden Plains Credit Union for Solia Ochoa to help with medical expenses and travel. Donations can be dropped off at any GPCU location or mailed to GPCU PO Box 868 Ulysses, KS 67880.
