Community Mexican Independence Festival This Saturday

Ulysses will be hosting the Third Annual Mexican Independence Festival on Saturday, September 10th. The event begins at 3:00 p.m. and activities continue through 11:00 p.m. on Main Street.

According to Shayla Jaquez, there will be something for all ages with food trucks, live bands, booths and inflatables. The festival kicks off with a parade down Main at 3:00 p.m. Participants are asked to meet at Hickok School at 2:00 to line up. Those with Jeeps, motorcycles, razors, four-wheelers, as well as horses, bicycles and floats are invited to take part.

Pheasants Forever will be sponsoring a beer garden during the event, the Folkloric Dancers will perform, a corn hole tournament and a car show is also scheduled. From 8:00 to 11:00 p.m., local recording artist Diamante Perez will share his music with those in attendance.

The event celebrates the September 16 independence of Mexico from Spain. Independence Day celebrates the effort of the Mexicans to be free, be autonomous, and strive.
