Frankie Nell McDougal Barefoot Forman, 89

Frankie Nell McDougal Barefoot Forman, born September 8, 1933, went to meet the Lord on January 23, at the age of 89, at her home in Valley Spring, Texas.

She was the 10th child of 11, born to William H. and Florence O. (Weddel) McDougal in Crane, Texas.

Nell attended school in Crane, where she met and married W. R. Barefoot on September 25, 1951.

W. R. preceded her in death on July 30, 1992.

On May 3, 2002, Nell married Charles Forman.

Nell raised her family and later returned to school to get her cosmetology license, serving her patrons of Johnson, Kan., for 30 years.  She later worked in ladies boutiques in Ulysses, and Llano, Texas for about 10 years, sharing her love of clothes and accessories.    

Nell’s faith in God impacted every aspect of her daily life. She was a member of the Cherokee Baptist Church, participating in various Bible study groups in many locations over the years. She is remembered as a prayer warrior for her family and friends!

Nell possessed a very deep and unconditional love for her family and treasured time spent together. She enjoyed good gospel music, arranging flowers, providing food and hospitality. Nell had a wonderful way of making everyone feel welcome and special. She worked hard to make a good life for her family.

Nell followed God’s leading to author “Soar As An Eagle With God’s Help”, which was published in 2019. She also wrote the lyrics for “Face to Face “, a song God laid on her heart.

Other family that preceded Nell in death are daughter, Darnell; son, Ruffen; brothers: Ace, T.W., Fred, Ruffen, Roland and  Noland; sisters: Minnie Dee, Flora, and Imogine.

Survivors include husband, Chuck Forman, Valley Spring; daughter, Debi (Lynn) Scott, Spicewood, Texas; grandsons: Matthew (Jenny) of Buena Vista, Colo., and Chantry (Shana) of Johnson, Kan.; great grandchildren: Cole, Connor, Adyson, Avery and Logan; sister, Florence Thurston of Castle Pines, Colo.; and sisters-in-law: Lillie McDougal, Leola Hamrick and Pat Barefoot; plus many nieces and nephews.

Nell’s step-family includes: Lerral Styler (deceased), Livvi Ericson, Elisha McEldery, Lacee Buckoskey; grandchildren: Max, Oakley, Carlie, Madelyn, Sinnian, Brenna, Owen, Bryce, Zachary (deceased), Austin and great grandson, Zachary.

Funeral will be 11 a.m., Saturday, February 4, at Cherokee Baptist Church, Cherokee, Texas, officiated by Pastor Shannon Bond and Ross Ellis.

Burial will be at Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson, Kan., at a later date.
