Free Health Insurance Marketplace Assistance at Grant County Extension Office

Posted

Ulysses and surrounding area residents can get free assistance finding and enrolling in Marketplace health insurance plans from Certified Navigator and Extension Agent Monica Walker at the Grant County Extension Office. A day is being held on November 15 for appointments, but appointments may also be scheduled after that date. Open enrollment lasts until January 15, 2023, but you must enroll by December 15, 2022, for coverage to begin on January 1, 2023.

Navigators are federally trained community workers who help consumers find and apply for the health coverage that is best suited to their needs and budget. They are focused on assisting all residents, especially those who have historically experienced lower access to health coverage and greater disparities in health outcomes. As trusted community partners, Navigators offer unbiased, confidential support, year-round.

The health coalition Impact Ulysses, Inc., has trained Navigators that cover Morton, Stanton, Stevens, Grant, and Haskell counties and provides enrollment assistance through the Kansas CARES program, which brings Navigator services to underserved communities throughout the state. A coalition of 12 agencies work across 42 Kansas counties, focusing on rural and diverse populations. This partnership was made possible by a major grant from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services awarded to Thrive Allen County in August 2021, who partners with Impact Ulysses.
