Furever Friends Looking For Supporters

Posted

The Furever Friends of Grant County is a newly established 501c3 non-profit organization committed to serving the “furry residents” of our city.

This group is made up of volunteer animal advocates whose end goal is to eventually manage the day to day operations of the animal shelter to reduce the demand on the Animal Control Officer. This will allow the officer to concentrate their efforts on the enforcement of city ordinances relating to animals. This group would also be able to dedicate their time and energy toward rescue efforts and making the animals time in the shelter to be more routine and less stressful. In the future they would also like to start working towards the root cause of stray animals in our community by sponsoring low cost spay and neuter and vaccination clinics.

The city has made great strides over the years towards becoming a no-kill/ rescue oriented city shelter, but that requires many resources, time, and energy due to the large volume of strays the shelter takes in each year.

Furever Friends of Grant County has been working diligently behind the scenes learning the ins-and-outs of shelter management.

If you’d like to know how you can help get this moving at full throttle, you can:

1. Help spread the word!

Like and share their Facebook page, “Furever Friends Of Grant County, KS.”

2. Become a supporting member!

You can e-mail Ulyssesfureverfriends@gmail.com for an application, or call (620) 952-3823 and ask for Leilani Sullivan, Board President, to inquire.

4. Volunteer!

Currently, a list of people willing to donate their time, skills, and talents is being compiled so when Furever Friends is fully up and operating in the capacity of shelter management they can utilize their volunteers to help with fostering, leash training dogs, cleaning, helping with rescue paperwork and transports, taking pictures, helping keep web content current, setting up and working at adoption and fundraising events… You can get in touch with us by e-mailing Ulyssesfureverfriends@gmail.com

Schedule a time to have a board member come to your business or group and let them share their heart and discuss ways they can most effectively serve our community. Furever Friends is very excited to share what they’ve been working on and look forward to seeing their vision become a reality.
