The Grant County community came together July 30 to honor Nancy Wallace Kletecka, the Ulysses News Managing Editor, during a farewell celebration at Grant County Senior Center.
Beginning at 10 a.m., friends, co-workers and community members gathered to recognize Wallace Kletecka’s years of dedicated service to local journalism. The large turnout reflected the respect and appreciation she has earned throughout her career covering the people, events and milestones that have shaped Grant County.
The program featured several speakers who shared memories, stories and words of gratitude, highlighting Wallace Kletecka’s commitment to accurately telling the community’s story and supporting local organizations through her reporting. Wallace Kletecka also addressed those in attendance, thanking everyone for their friendship, encouragement, and support over the years.
Following the program, guests enjoyed refreshments, including cake and cupcakes, while visiting with Kletecka and reminiscing about the many memories created throughout her career. A beautifully decorated table, complete with flowers and a “Best Wishes” banner, served as the centerpiece of the celebration.
Although Wallace Kletecka is stepping away from her role at the Ulysses News, those in attendance agreed that her dedication, professionalism, and love for the community have left a lasting impact. She was wished the very best as she begins the next chapter of her life.
