Grant County Extension Offers Free Medicare Counseling Services

Posted

Did you know that October 15 through December 7 of each year is the open enrollment period to look at your Medicare Prescription Drug Plan, also known as your Part D Plan? National statistics show that three-fourths of Medicare Part D Plan participants will pay more the next year if they do not switch plans.

Monica Walker, local Extension Agent with K-State Research and Extension in Grant County, is a certified Senior Health Insurance Counselor for Kansas (SHICK) and is offering free one-on-one counseling and assistance to people with Medicare and their families, and people who will soon become eligible for Medicare.

If you are overwhelmed by all the Medicare information and ads, schedule one-on-one counseling to receive objective information about Medicare Parts A, B, C, and D, and Medicare Supplemental Insurance (Medigap). Monica will be available to answer questions and assist beneficiaries with their shopping and enrollment.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, contact the Grant County Extension Office at 620-356-1721. K-State Research and Extension Service is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
