Hospital Auxiliary Meets for May

Posted

Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital (BWMH) Auxiliary met at 9:30 a.m., May 10 at the Cooper Clark Room in the Library.  The meeting was called to order and the Auxiliary Prayer and Task were recited.

Nine members were in attendance: Sue-Ellen Borthwick, Delores Currier, Flo Martin, Kim Martin, Kim McGaughey, Carol Rider, Jeryl Smith, Doloris Ungles, and Bonnie Walters.

The minutes from the April meeting were read and approved.

The May Blood Drive came in under the goal of 50 pints.  It is believed that recent blood drives by other organizations may have contributed to not reaching this goal.  The next blood drive hosted by BWMH Auxiliary will be on Thursday, August 3.

Pink Ladies and Gift Shop scheduling was discussed.  Necessary changes were made to update.  The Gift Shop will be receiving a donation of get well cards to be used for hospital patients.  A high school student from Los Animas, Colo., supplies these get well cards to interested hospital gift shops as a community service.

The Auxiliary hosted a Hospital Appreciation Tea for BWMH staff Tuesday, May 9.  Recipients of the BWMH Auxiliary Scholarship were also invited to attend.

The 2023 recipients of the BWMH Auxiliary Scholarship are:  Mia Wendt, Tyann Weis, Brittany Raines,Valeria Carrasco-Corral, Alexandra Heredia, Ruby Romero, Jocelin Baeza, Kaelin Johnson, Roselyne Garay, and Lorenzo Gomez.  Each is receiving a $1,000 scholarship to assist as they pursue their chosen career in health care.

The hospital is requiring written proof that all auxiliary members have received the flu shot.  Anyone working in the hospital is required to have an annual flu shot.

There was a brief discussion on applying for a grant to be used for elder care as well as the purpose of the auxiliary with community health care.

The possibility of applying for 501C3 will be discussed at a later time.

From 8 a.m., until 3 p.m., Monday June 12, there will be a Linen Sale in the hospital lobby area.  Auxiliary members will be signing up to assist with the sale.

The meeting was then adjourned.

Members will meet next at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday June 14 in the Cooper Clark room of Grant County Library.
