Posted

The weekly Chamber Coffee took place October 11 in the front Lobby of Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital, led by the hospital Auxiliary in conjunction with the Mistletoe Market. Delores Currier gave the presentation and started out by introducing the Auxiliary’s Caring Hands, Caring Hearts.

“The purpose of our auxiliary shall be to support the mission of this hospital in delivering quality lifelong healthcare for the community and the surrounding areas and is exclusively for charitable purposes,,” Currier said.

The auxiliary has a gift shop with seasonal gifts, currently featuring Halloween items for 50 percent off, as well as pillows and homemade items. The auxiliary is currently hosting a drawing for a Patrick Mahomes knitted hat that will last through Grant County Gives, and will have a bake sale November 8, in the hospital lobby.

“We have very awesome, generous, caring members in our organization and this is probably one of the best, most organized, generous, caring organizations that I have ever been involved with, Currier added. “Are do what each of us have talents for and we cover for each other and we are not required to be there. We would appreciate anybody who would like to join us.”

The auxiliary meets every second Wednesday of the month at 9:30 a.m. at the Grant County Library.

“We’ve donated to the hospital, and to other organizations, a large gurney, two portable vital machines that they can move around to check blood pressure, etcetera, the high-rise chairs we have here, five charging stations for telephones, a blood vein detector and an audible pulse (detector) we donated two so they can get people who are suffering from heart attacks to get them without doing the compressions,” Ungles said.

The Auxiliary also gives ten $1,000 scholarships every year not only for high school seniors but for those who are already working in the field.

“What better way to try to help your hospital to make sure you have certified personnel to work,” she added. “That’s my main emphasis as far as other work we do as an auxiliary.”

Currier recognized the “Pink Ladies” who work the lobby in the mornings to “direct traffic.”

“We also have ‘Visiting Angels’ in the afternoon that go up, visit patients snd sometimes take a card,” Currier said. “And we have some flowers that are cards in the gift shop and we also take those up for the patients.

“Our strong point is our caring, energetic, awesome members who make up this organization and care for the welfare and the health of our community.”
