I Prefer The Separation Of Politics And Entertainment

Please Don't Tread On My Time.

Posted

Time and time again when you sit down to enjoy a music show, a sporting event, an awards show, etc., there always seems to be that moment.

That moment when what you tuned in to enjoy is disrupted by someone wanting to have their say.

I've always disliked politics. I guess you could say I have absolutely no use for it. Unfortunately, however, no matter where you go or what you are doing - politics seems to rear its ugly head.

Somebody uses their position, their "clout" to get what they and their cronies want done. And get it done regardless of what it does to anyone else.

When I am trying to relax, the last thing I want is for someone to find the need to have "their say". To suddenly think they need to let me know how they feel about something.

When I'm trying to relax, the last thing I want is to have to watch or listen to someone's political stance on something.

Famous people are notorious for "taking advantage" of their time in the spotlight. They want to get a point across - to show their support.

And guess what? They have the right to voice their opinions. However, I don't believe they have the right to force those opinions on others. Taking advantage of a somewhat "captive" audience, is not the answer. In fact, when people do that, I am more likely to not be on their side for what they are trying to accomplish.

There are plenty of other ways for you, me and everyone else in this free country to do that.

If you're a famous, important, big dog person and want your views known - you want to show your support and make a statement - I feel certain you can afford to build an ad, buy some space - get it done.

My and others' relaxation time is not the time or place to do any of that. Disrespecting the flag of this country, the National Anthem - NOT the place to do that.

It all comes down to power. Someone becomes famous, well off, is put in charge,  - then suddenly they feel their rights are more important than everyone else's'.

We've witnessed that in a country performance timed to a state's laws, in sporting events, to performances of the National Anthem or the citing of the Pledge of Allegiance, to an acceptance speech for an award - the list goes on.

There is a time and a place for everything.

So please, don't tread on my time or on other people's time.

Entertainment and relaxation should have nothing to do with political statements. It's supposed to be a time of fun - not a time of further stress.

If there are ads attached to the event - buy one. Or better yet, plan your own event focusing on your passions. Don't use the wrong platform for yours.
