Life In The Headlights

"It would be nice if we could agree to disagree"

I'm tired. Aren't you tired?

I wish it would all stop.

All of the hate speech back and forth. The accusations. The flat out lies.

Families and friends are being torn apart. The damage may never be repaired. And why?

Because two entities: the Democrats and the Republicans, cannot work together for the good of this country and the people in it. Instead, they are like children fighting over a toy or to see who can get the most marbles.

Elections have turned in to sporting matches of who can out score who rather than who is best for the job.

It's sad really.

Why should it be so difficult to make choices that are the "right" ones?

I don't care which party you belong to - there are going to be mistakes made. Bad choices, wrong choices, good choices.... They happen on both sides. Why? Because both sides are made of people and people are not perfect.

Over the years I have voted Republican and then there are times I have voted Democrat. I tried to vote for the person I felt would do the best job for this country - and not for someone just because they were on my party's ticket.

My father used to say, "are you going to follow them off that cliff just because you belong to the same party?" And he is correct. Why would you do what someone else is doing "just because"? Everyone should be voting and doing things according to what they believe is right, not what their neighbor or best friend or party mate is doing.

When it comes right down to it - I hate politics. I always have. There was a time in my life I actually did write in Micky Mouse. Of course he has never made it to the White House, or at least I don't think he has.

It has gotten so vile in the world of politics, I just don't know how anything is ever gotten done.

Don't get me wrong. I do believe there are candidates out there who actually get in to that world because they care about this country. Because they care about their constituents. Because they care about what is right. But, I also believe there are many who go in to politics who already have an agenda. Who want to further their own desires and needs rather than what is best for the majority.

I also believe that sometimes after they enter the world of politics they find out it isn't as easy as saying "we need to do this that way". Sometimes they get elected and find out then just how much red tape there really is in getting things done right.

Why is that? Because unfortunately many of the "humans" we have leading us have agendas.

I find it ironic when someone makes fun of "conspiracy" theorists. I am not a crazy conspiracy believer, but come on! Conspiracies have been around since time began.

Elections have been bought and sold since time began.

There has been someone there the entire time trying to change things to their advantage or belief.

Is it possible to fix an electronic election? Well, why don't we ask the millions of people who have been affected when their personal information is accessed electronically.

I'm not saying any elections have been fixed, but I am saying it most definitely is possible.

I really and truly do hope and believe no one in this country wants people here who would kill and harm others. I also wish we could send the ones here who were born here and do that somewhere else. But, I don't think we should be letting more of the same in.

I also believe there are many who are here who came here illegally, but have been productive members of their communities.

So what's the answer? I would hope the powers that be could come up with an agreeable solution. I know the process of getting in to this country legally is time consuming and difficult for many. I interviewed a young lady many years ago who told me all she had to go through to gain her citizenship. I would venture to say many who were born here could not pass that test.

Abortion is another issue both sides argue about. I would think there would be a compromise that could be reached there as well.

Spending? Everyone, no matter what party they belong to should be asking where the money is going.

Everybody should be wondering why the people of this country aren't the number one priority when it comes to making sure we are okay before we dig our hole deeper to help someone else. After all, how many can we continue to help if we are unable to make sure we are okay first?

Plus, who are we helping? That should be of concern to every citizen in this country.

As for how rich the powers that be. I don't believe I have ever heard of a single one who wasn't already very well off when they won an election. I don't know any poor people in office, do you?

Womanizing? Take a look at each candidate we've had. I doubt you will find many who have been faithful. Many of which belong to a party I won't mention by name.

There have been outside influences who have fueled the fires of hate. Mainstream media, talk show hosts - I really wonder how they are being allowed to stay on the air after all of the lies and trouble they stir up.

One show, with nothing but women, had one of their hosts claim recently that Kamala Harris wasn't elected because she is black. Made me want to ask her then how did Barack Obama get elected? Wasn't she insulting his heritage with that comment?

I don't care if a candidate is green with purple polka dots or has six arms - if they can do the job and do it for the best interest of this country and the people in it then that is all I care about.

It would also be nice if we could agree to disagree and do it in an adult manner.
