Jerry F. White, 73, of Ulysses, died Saturday, February 11, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses. 

He was born June 21, 1949, in Garden City, Kans., the son of Burl and Mary (Tull) White.

Jerry grew up in Ulysses and went to Grant County Rural High School. He then graduated from Liberal Vo-Tech where he studied Diesel Technology. 

Jerry served in the United States Army and after an honorable discharge, he returned to Ulysses and worked for Dowell. Jerry also worked at Collectia, WT Contractors and Tarbet Tucking.

He married Jeleta Henson August 13, 2004, in Cripple Creek, Colo. 

Jerry enjoyed gambling, riding motorcycles, attending car shows, and driving a truck.  He will be remembered for telling stories and jokes.

Survivors include his wife, Jeleta, of their home; son, Rob White, of Ulysses; daughter, Jen Wieland, and husband, Nathan, of Grand Island, Neb.; stepdaughters: Melissa Constable, Ulysses, Melody Owens, Ft. Collins, Colo., and Tricia Jacob of Alabama; sister, Burla Stutzman and husband, Jerry, Ulysses; grandchildren: Toree Ogden, Taylor Wieland, Madison Wieland, Caroline White, and Tatum White; and great grandchildren: Samantha, Elizabeth, Grace and McKenzie “Punky” McCauley.

Jerry is preceded in death by his father, Burl White; mother and step-father, Mary and Bud Gile; brothers: Robert L., Billy Glen, and Bob White; and sisters: Jean Faulks and Charlotte Roybal.

Memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 15, at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses, with Pastor Andy McMillan officiating.

Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery with military rites conducted by Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79.
