Mary Rosales, 84

Mary Rosales, 84, Ulysses, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, January 21, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital, in Ulysses. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, Christian woman, and caregiver.

The daughter of Samuel and Thomasa (Hinojosa) Montez, she was born on November 6, 1938, in San Antonio, Texas.

Mary and Paul R. Rosales Sr. were married December 10, 1968, in Ulysses. To this union were five sons, Paul Jr., John, Mike, Raymond, and Royce.

Mary was a member of the Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church of Ulysses. She was a faithful woman who had much love for her Lord, her family, her church, and her community.

She was a CNA for more than 30 years for nursing homes in Sharon Springs, Garden City, and Ulysses. Her passion was loving and caring for her patients, each patient knew her love for them.

She loved and enjoyed her family and their time spent together.  Mary was the baker and cook for their family get-togethers.  She had a special friend, her dog JJ; and loved to spoil him. Her hobbies were playing bingo, gambling, and attending her grandchildren's events. Mary cherished her time socializing with her friends and getting to spend time with them.

Survivors include five sons: Paul Rosales Jr. and wife, Cordelia, and John Rosales, all of Ulysses,  Mike Rosales and wife, Linda, Garden City, Kan., Raymond Rosales and wife, Laura, McPherson, Kan., and Royce Rosales and wife, Andria, Garden City, Kan.; two brothers: Samuel Montez Jr., San Antonio, Texas, and Armando Montez, El Paso, Texas; 20 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Rosales Sr.; two sisters: Rosie Perez and Gloria Montez; and a brother, Jimmy Montez.

A memorial has been established for Grant County Senior Center or American Legion, in care of Robson Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St., Ulysses, Kan., 67880.

Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., today, Thursday, January 26, at Robson Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St. Ulysses.

Rosary service will take place at 7 p.m., today, January 26, at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Ulysses. Funeral Mass service will take place at 11 a.m., Friday, January 27, at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Father Charles Seiwert presiding. 

Burial will follow at Ulysses Cemetery, Ulysses.
