After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Scott, Ulysses was happy to have turned things around last Friday for their homecoming game matchup.
They took down the Goodland Cowboys 26-12. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 48-28 victory the Cowboys walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.
Ulysses can attribute much of their success to Caden Ledesma, who threw for 138 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 84.2 percent of his passes, and also rushed for 77 yards. Those 77 rushing yards gave Ledesma a new career-high. Tyce Perez was in the mix too, providing Ulysses with two scores.
Ulysses' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Malikah Garcia was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
With the win, Ulysses broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-3. As for Goodland, they dropped their record down to 2-3 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Coming up, Ulysses will welcome Smith Center at 7 p.m., Friday. The Redmen will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last. As for Goodland, they will head out to take on Colby at 6 p.m., Friday. The Cowboys will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 45.4 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
