PAT MANGELS

Pat Mangels, 76, Ulysses, died Friday, August 11, at Western Prairie Senior Living Community in Ulysses. 

She was born January 23, 1947, in Sutherland, Neb., the daughter of Harry Manley and Bernice Delilah (Jarman) Mahaffey.

Pat lived in Nebraska until she moved with her family while she was still in grade school. 

She married Darrel Mangels December 31, 1962, in Ulysses. 

Pat owned and operated Flowers Etc. for many years.  After she sold her shop, she worked for Dr. Baughman Veterinary Clinic in Ulysses and Hugoton, then the Tiger Lily flower shop. She was also an active farm wife. 

She was very proud of her grandchildren and enjoyed attending and following all their sport events and activities. If she couldn’t attend, she would listen to the sports on the radio.  Pat was an avid KU fan.

Pat is survived by her sons: Ronnie Mangels and wife, Nancy, Don Mangels and wife, Chrissie, Bob Mangels and Casey Knox, all of Ulysses; sister, Pam Miller, Omaha, Nebraska; five grandchildren: Brady, Brett, Tyler, Emily, and Jami; and many nieces and nephews.

Pat is preceded in death by her parents: Harry and Dorothy Mahaffey, and Bernice and Lyle Morava; grandparents, Jack and Mary Mahaffey; husband, Darrel; and grandson, Eric Knox.

Funeral service will be Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses with Pastor Gerry Dupuis officiating.  Interment will follow at Ulysses Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday, August 18, 2023, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.  Memorial contributions may be given to Fur-ever Friends in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Friday, August 18, at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 19, at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses, with Pastor Gerry Dupuis officiating. Interment will follow at Ulysses Cemetery.
