Real Life ‘Treasure Hunt’ Launched at Local Park Pirate Ship

Posted

A local coin collector is turning a neighborhood playground into a real-life treasure island this season, hoping to spark a passion for history and numismatics in the next generation.

Beginning this week, the anonymous collector will be hiding authentic coins from their personal collection at the local park's pirate ship playground. The daily treasure hunt is scheduled to continue through the summer and fall, running until the weather turns or until around October 1st.

The organizer explicitly emphasizes that this is a game of observation, not excavation. Treasure hunters will not need any tools, and no metal detectors are required. The coins will never be buried, nor will they be hidden in any location that requires force or damage to the pirate ship to be uncovered. Instead, finding the daily bounty will simply require a keen, observant eye and a bit of curiosity.

The project was born out of a desire to create old-fashioned excitement for local youth and introduce them to the world of coin collecting. By placing pieces of history directly into the hands of children, the collector hopes to inspire a lifelong hobby of coin enthusiasm.

To make the hunt even more interactive, finders are highly encouraged to share their discoveries with the community. If you or your child locate one of the hidden coins, feel free to share a photo under the Ulysses News post to share the excitement and show off your modern-day pirate booty.
