Robert E. Myers

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert E. Myers, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and self-made businessman, who left this world on September 1, 2026, at the age of 85. Bob was born on June 17, 1941, in Winston County, Mississippi, the son of Sam and Mavis (Ponder) Myers, and brother to Harvey Myers, Becky Bates, Earl Ponder, and Patricia Mitchell.

Raised from humble beginnings, he learned early the value of hard work and self-reliance — principles that would carry him through the rest of his life. On June 20, 1958, he married Sara Lorine Keene, and together they built a life and partnership that spanned 67 years. They made their home in Ulysses, Kansas for the majority of their lives before moving to Lindsborg, Kansas after retirement.

Starting with nothing but determination, Bob and Lorine built multiple successful companies together, including Myers Electric, Central States Mechanical Inc., and the family farm that anchored their life and their legacy. One of his proudest moments was becoming a lineman for Pioneer Electric in Ulysses, Kansas. Pivotal in shaping his future success in life. Those who knew him remember a man of quiet intelligence and remarkable range. Whether the subject was finances or business, Bob always seemed to know a little bit about everything. He was a man of few words by nature, content to let others do the talking. But when the moment called for it, he could be firm and unmistakably outspoken. When he spoke up, people listened!

Bob's work ethic, vision, and relentless pursuit of success, turned humble beginnings into a lasting foundation for his family. Outside of his work, Bob was a passionate classic car enthusiast. He and Lorine spent many happy years building and restoring classic cars. Traveling across the country to show their work and share their love of the craft with others. As a father, Bob was loving and, at times, stern, he was never a man of many words. When he did speak, his family listened. His words carried life lessons that his children and grandchildren carry with them still. A quiet wisdom that continues to shape generations. When Lorine passed on September 12, 2025, Bob faced the hardest year of his life. Life without his partner of 67 years was never the same. Those closest to him knew that a part of him had gone with her.

He is survived by his children Deanna (Gary) Hurst, Brenda (Justin) Ford, and Bobby (Angela) Myers; his
grandchildren Jason (Corina) Ford, Jessica (Johnny) Francoviglia, Kellyn (Eric) Cardona, Brandon
(Brittany) Ford, Cody Myers, Celeste (Jeremy) Danler, Crystal (Delores) Myers, Jaelynn (Hayden) Enyart, and Cadaince (Tanner) Luttig, along with many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Lorine Myers, his dad Sam Myers, his mother Mavis Ponder, and his brothers Harvey Myers, and Earl Ponder.

Funeral Services will be held at Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses, Kansas on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 10:00 AM with Reverend Casey Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave., Ulysses, Kansas, 67880.
