Sheriff Urges Residents to Protect Their Property

Posted

Due to a rash of thefts across the county, Sheriff James Biddle is asking residents in town as well as in the country to take precautions to protect their property and themselves. He urges those in the country with outbuildings to lock these buildings and if possible, install a camera or lighting to deter thieves. It is also important to contact law enforcement if you see something that is not normal or a person acting suspiciously or out of place.

In recent weeks, the thefts have increased. On April 13th, a 2014 Polaris four-wheeler and approximately 100 gallons of fuel were stolen from two separate rural locations. The four-wheeler and suspect vehicle were recovered later that day by the Sheriff’s Department with the assistance of several other agencies and citizens.

There have also been thefts of batteries, and other items from properties in Grant County. If you are the victim of a theft or have information to help law enforcement, call 620-356-3500.
