Students Make Trek To Washington DC

Students from Satanta, Meade and Fowler returned Monday from an educational trip which took them to Washington, D.C., Mt. Vernon and Gettysburg. Among the places they visited were (Day one) the U.S. Capitol, Library of Congress, Supreme Court, WWII Memorial, and the Washington Monument. The second day of the trip was spent at the Arlington National Cemetery where they were able to watch the changing of the guard, visit the tomb of the unknown soldier and JFK Eternal Flame. They also visited the Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima), the Holocaust Memorial Museum, the White House and Lafayette Square and did a memorial tour which included the Vietnam, Korean wars and the Lincoln Monument and reflecting poo. Day three the students visited Gettysburg National Military Park, took a battefield tour with a Civil War demonstration and Longstreet Observation tower, did a tidal basin walk (MLK, FDR and Thomas Jefferson) and National Harbor night. Day four of the tour found them at George Washington's Mount Vernon and Smithsonian Museums.
