The Ulysses News Welcomes Schonlau Back, Completes Their 'A-Team'

The staff at The Ulysses News are excited to announce the return of Cheyenne Schonlau to The Ulysses News’ A-Team!

Our subscribers may recall Schonlau’s friendly face from her tenure as Office Manager and Bookkeeper from 2018 to 2022.

“I’m most excited to return to an amazing team and customers,” said Schonlau. “I learned some of our customers routines and enjoyed seeing them like clockwork on Monday or Wednesday mornings.”

Schonlau will be entering a new role, bringing in business and advertisements as the Sales Representative. Going forward, Schonlau is excited to journey onto uncharted territory.

“We are moving into a busy season of sales with some of our annual promotions and would like for our customers to know who’s at the other end of the email or phone call,” explained Schonlau. “I take my new position very seriously and have high expectations of my ability to work with our customers to ensure what they are purchasing is everything they need and more.”

Schonlau has been a resident of Grant County for 12 years, moving from Texas with her mom, Stacie, in 2011. She graduated from Ulysses High School two years later, with her daughter, Kennedi, watching proudly in the stands with family.

In February 2015, Cheyenne began dating Cameron Schonlau. Cole, their “wild tycoon” of a son, came into the world in 2018. Three years later, Cheyenne and Cameron were wed at the First United Methodist Church and purchased their first home December of the same year. Currently, both of the Schonlau children attend Harvest Christian School.

“We have loved raising our littles here in Ulysses,” said Schonlau.

The children aren’t the only ones obtaining an education, as their mom is currently working towards an associate in marketing with Southern New Hampshire University. Schonlau is projected to graduate in late 2024.

Before returning to the local paper, Schonlau served as the Office Manager of First United Methodist Church. Once the sales position became vacant at The Ulysses News, Schonlau took full advantage of the opportunity ahead.

“I’m excited for the challenge as the Sales Representative,” said Schonlau. “I’m looking forward to this new season with new team members and what we are going to accomplish together.”

Managing Editor Nancy Wallace-Kletecka said Schonlau has been a welcome addition.

"Cheyenne has hit the ground running and it is obvious she cares about her customers and the newspaper already," Wallace-Kletecka said. "She has made our team stronger and more complete. We are looking forward to what our team can now do for the community."
