Ulysses High School Powerlifters placed in the women's and men's divisions at the Conway Springs, Kans., meet March 11.
The women's team garnered 78 points to bring home fourth place out of 25 teams that participated. First place went to Wichita East High School, 97 points. Stanton County Trojans placed ninth with 38 points.
Lady Tiger's Results
105.0 Division
Naomi Vagher at 104.8 pounds benched 100 pounds for eight points and second place. In the squat division, Vagher camed in first when she did 210.0 pounds for 10 points; and in clean when she had 120.0 pounds for 10 points. Overall Vagher had 430.0 pounds for 28 points and first place.
Samee Scott at 105.0 pounds, came in fourth place when she benched 85.0 pounds for four points; as well as in the squat division, where she had 150.0 pounds for four points. In clean she was in second place with 105.0 pounds for eight points. Overall, Scott had 340.0 pounds for 16 points and third place.
Addison Mathes placed fifth at 99.8 pounds when she benched 80.0 pounds. In squat, Mathes did 130.0 pounds for sixth place. Mathes had 85.0 pounds in the clean division for sixth place.Overall, Mathes had 295.0 pounds and placed seventh.
114.0 Division
Natalya Sifuentes at 113.2 pounds, placed third when she benched 120.0 pounds for six points; squat 215.0 pounds for eight points and second place; clean 120.0 pounds for two points and fifth place; and overall of 455.0 pounds for 16 points and third place.
Zoey Stein at 112.0 pounds benched 105.0 pounds for two points and fifth place; squat 210.0 for six points and third place; clean 135.0 for 10 points and first place; and overall 450.0 pounds for 18 points and second place.
Tiger's Results
The men's team brought home sixth place out of 26 teams, with 66 points. First place in that division went to Halstead High School, 87 points. Stanton County Trojans placed 25th with six.
148.0 Division
Isaac Salas at 139.2 pounds benched 235.0 for 10 points and first place; squat 375.0 for 10 points and first place; clean 200.0 and ninth place; 810.0 overall for 20 points and first place.
172.0 Division
Evan Cortez at 168.5 pounds benched 265.0 for 10 points and first place; squat 405.0, eight points and second place; clean 240.0 for two points and fifth place; and had 910.0 pounds overall for second place.
181.0 Division
Lorenzo Gomez at 178.3 pounds benched 280.0 for eight points and second place; squat 445.0 for 10 points and first place; clean 275.0 for eight points and second place; and 1,000 pounds overall for 26 points and second place.
There were 403 total lifters who participated in the event.
