Ulysses High School Yearbook staff traveled to Lawrence to attend state competition at the  University of Kansas in May for the Kansas Scholastic Press Association (KSPA).

The UHS Tiger 2022 yearbook staff earned the highest recognition by being named as an "All Kansas" book by the KSPA. "The U" didn't stop there - they had six of their 10 entries win awards including one state champion designation.

Stephanie Cedillo won state champion for Student Life Photography, as well as bringing home a fifth place in Sports Feature Photography. Awards also went out to Yuliana Vazquez, Academics Photography, sixth place; Alison Baker, Academics Photography, second place, Sports Action Photo, sixth place,, and Sports Writing, fifth place. Baker brought home a State Champion runner-up designation.

The award-winning photos will be in the 2023 Tiger yearbook, according to a school spokesperson.

"Congratulations to the Ulysses Tigers Yearbook," said a spokesperson for the school. "They (came)  home with all kinds of hardware! These students work so hard to capture all the special moments that happen at UHS! Congrats to all the Yearbook staff, and we can’t wait to see this year’s book!"

If you haven't yet ordered your copy of the yearbook, you are urged to do so as soon as possible as copies are going fast.

"Support the kids who support ALL other activities at the U," the spokesperson said.
